WELL KNOWN as a land mark in the city’s secondary education field, BNSD Shiksha Niketan Inter College has scripted history, with 147 out of 149 students having passed with honours and 48 students figuring on the merit list of High School examinations this year.
This is not the first time when the students have done the institution proud. This has been a continuous process for the past 10 years. After getting recognition from UP Board for high school in 1991, 40 students appeared in the board examinations and all secured first divisions in the examination. The next year, one student figured on the merit list at the 19th position.
However, for about five years, most students secured Ist division but till 1996, none of the students could register their name on the merit list.
The year 1997 saw a new start, when five student appeared on the merit list. In 1998, 16 students figured on the merit list, in 1999, six students, 2000 - 10 students, 2001- 10 students, 2002- five students, 2003- 10 students, 2004 -35 students and in 2005 – five students found place on the merit list. Many allegations were levelled against the school, including use of unfair means in the examinations.
But these charges were refuted by the principal Dr Angad Singh, while talking to HT. He said that such comments were the result of ill feeling among a few.
As per the school record, 12 students of the school were selected in IIT in 2005.
Dr Singh said “ We believe in hard work and our teachers pass on this message to their pupils.” Most of the parents expressed their satisfaction over the way the school was imparting education to their children, but a few of them expressed unhappiness about the difficulties in getting admission.
