The New Zealand team arrived here on Friday for Sunday's tri-series one day international cricket match against Australia at the Nehru Stadium here.
The team led by Captain Stephen Fleming flew in from Kolkata by an Indian Airlines plane and was immediately taken to a city hotel in a special bus amidst tight security.
The Kiwis were given a traditional welcome by the Assam Cricket Association officials at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here where fans lined up to get a glimpse of the Black Caps.
Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been put in place by the Assam police as per the guidelines of the BCCI for the November nine one-dayer with the two hotels where the teams would stay, the stadium and the two-km stretch leading to the Nehru stadium sanitised.
The spectators would not be allowed to take any kind of sharp weapons and only plastic containers for food and water would be allowed.
The media-men had also been barred from taking their mobile telephones inside the stadium.
