One person was seriously injured when police opened fire after a mob, protesting attachment of properties of three murder accused, torched a security vehicle and set ablaze a room at a police station at Kishni in the district on Wednesday.
The trouble erupted when a police party arrived at the village to attach the properties of three persons, who were named in an FIR pertaining to the murder of one Jeetu Yadav near Mainpuri recently, police said.
A mob of villagers, alleged to be supporters of BSP, soon gathered at the spot and indulged in stone pelting besides torching a truck of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and a room in the old police station, they said.
Police opened fire to quell the mob fury in which one person was seriously injured, they said adding that he was admitted to the hospital.
Security personnel in strength had been deployed in the village and senior officials had reached the spot, police added.
