Following are the seven authorised centres in Lucknow for the sale of tickets: Sector 9, Indira Nagar, Sector D in Aliganj, Indraprastha Nagar, in Mahanagar, Udaiganj, Ashok Vihar in Aliganj, Rajajipuram, Snehnagar, and Alambagh.

Addressing media persons in his office, DRM (NR) RK Gupta, said the contract was for two years. The parties will earn a rupee on sale of each ticket. Only unreserved tickets could be procured from the centres, he stated.

The Jan Sadharan facility counters, however, would not offer the refund facility. “This is to check irregularities,” he added. The facility is being introduced on pilot basis, and if proved successful, it would be introduced in other centres of the division.

As regards awarding contract, the DRM said over 50 applicants had applied, but only 24 remained in the bid after scrutiny. He further said each party had invested Rs 50,000 for installing machinery, besides depositing Rs 15,000 as security with the railways and a bank guarantee of Rs 40,000.

After the success of the scheme in Lucknow, the same would be introduced in other cities under the division—Faizabad, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Bhadoi, Ayodhya, Akbarpur, Rae Bareli, Prayagraj, Shahganj, Unnao, Jhangai, etc.

About the controversy over the temple constructed on the premises of Charbagh Railway Station, the DRM reiterated that the temple was not being demolished, it was a structure constructed only recently that was being targeted. He said after planning the expansion of the station, every inch of it was valuable. The DRM also said a letter was ready for the district administration asking it to shift the bus stand, presently located on the station premises.
