A private firm's vehicle involved in filling currency notes in ATMs had met with an accident at Nandlai steep road area on September 24.

The vehicle's security guard was found unconscious under the influence of an unidentified drug and Rs 62 lakh cash placed in it was also stolen by someone, Mhow area's additional SP Arvind Tiwari said on Friday.

During probe, it was found that the company's three employees — Praveen Sharma, Manish Borasi and driver Vijay Soni — along with associate Rahul Kadam hatched a conspiracy to loot cash from the vehicle and as part of it, they offered a sedative-laced juice to the van's security guard.

As planned, they later rammed the van into a tree and Rahul looted Rs 62 lakh cash kept in it, he said.

On the basis of suspicion, police questioned them following which they admitted to have committed the crime, he said.

Subsequently, police arrested the four accused on Thursday and recovered Rs 24.5 lakh cash from them.
