Indore loses two tech luminaries in road mishap

Two senior professors of Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science died in a road mishap on Tuesday when they were heading for a meeting scheduled in Bhopal.

Two senior professors of Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) died in a road mishap on Tuesday when they were heading for a meeting scheduled in Bhopal.

Professor Kartikey Tripathi and professor Durgesh Joshi were hardly 25 kilometres from Bhopal when their car rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction. Joshi, 47, died on the spot while Tripathi, 48, was rushed to Chirayu Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The professors were going to attend the board of studies meeting of the Rajiv Gandhi Technical University (RGTU) and were travelling in the same car. The professors were the alumni of the same institute and completed their engineering in 1988 and 1989 respectively.

Tripathi was conferred the Dronacharya Award in 2014 for best vehicle designing.

College director Sudhir Singh Bhadoria said the professors were deeply involved with student activities club. Under their leadership and guidance, students’ team had won several awards.

College public relations officer Manendrapal Singh Chawla said, "The college is in a state of shock over the deaths of its two dynamic faculty members."

The college will remain closed on Wednesday to mourn the death of its luminaries.
