With new national and state BJP executives having been formed, the city BJP executive, which awaited revamp since February last year, can hope for renewal now.

It has been more than a year that the city BJP unit is functioning with the old executive body, which helped the party won Lok Sabha and municipal elections under the city BJP chief, Kailash Sharma, who took charge on February 14, 2014.
“New city BJP executive will be declared soon,” said state BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, who appeared reluctant to give date for the declaration. As per the party’s constitution, when a new BJP leader is nominated or elected as national, state, district or city president, he declares a new executive body.
The present city BJP executive, a 111-member body with 17 special invitees and 25 permanent invitees, is more than five years old.
With the new body on the anvil, it remains to be seen how many new members are included and how many existing members are retained.
Fight for place in city BJP executive goes up
Meanwhile, the contest to get a seat in the new city BJP executive has scaled up with aspirants making all out efforts to impress party leaders and area MLAs.
Some have made phone calls to Delhi and Bhopal to find place in the new executive, the party sources said.
The party insiders said names have been made final and the message has been conveyed to Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, who will take a final call.
