A 27-year-old woman died Saturday, two days after being discharged from a sterilization camp, following which her husband has filed a complaint alleging negligence on part of the health staff at the camp, police said.

Harikesh Devi, resident of village Fondpura in Dholpur district, complained of acute pain and was rushed to community health centre in Bari where doctors declared her brought dead. The body was handed over the family after post mortem examination.

In a complaint filed at Kanchanpur police, her husband Ram Lakhan, has alleged that health worker Chandrakanta, deployed at Kanchanpur primary health centre (PHC) took Harikesh to Abdulpura PHC for sterilization at a camp organized by medical, health and family welfare department on February 8

“I was not at home when Chandrakanta lured my wife to the sterilization camp by promising Rs 2000. After Harikesh came home, she complained of severe pain and even fell unconscious,” said Ram Lakhan.“We rushed her to hospital but doctors declared her brought dead. I have filed a complaint of negligence leading to death against the nurse and the doctors at the sterilization camp.”

The couple has two children, Askaran (8), and Ruchi (4).

Contacted, chief medical and health officer, Dholpur, Rajesh Mittal, said, “I am not aware of such any incident. We will conduct an inquiry and action will be taken if any of the officials are found guilty.”

SHO, Kanchanpur, Shaitan Singh said they have received the complaint and are investigating the matter.
