Woman gets threat from fake account of DGP

A man created a fake account on a social media site with the name and picture of DGP Kapil Garg and demanded ₹50,000 from a woman in Ajmer.

A man created a fake account on a social media site with the name and profile picture of DGP Kapil Garg and demanded ₹50,000 from a woman in Ajmer. When she refused, the man started threatening her, police said.

Ajmer SP Kunwar Rashtradeep said on Thursday a case was registered against unknown person under relevant sections of IT Act and 384 (extortion) of IPC.

“Investigation is underway. We are tracking the internet protocol (IP) address of the accused. After tracking the IP, the accused would be arrested. We will also try to find whether in past, the accused had tried or extorted money from anyone else,” said Rahstradeep.
