The Brunch round-up: The week and how it made us feel
We are done with royal dramas, breathing in sandalwood, asking Dhruv Visvanath for an encore, and reclaiming trash

Fed up of royal dramas.
Even staunch fans of Harry and Meghan are annoyed. The two left, griped, appeared on Oprah, he wrote a book, they filmed a documentary, they fell out with the Beckhams, they’re now making a Netflix film, they might rent an apartment in the UK. Liberation from the Crown never looked this boring.

Ruining the big O.
Because research is showing that sex toys contain micro plastics too. Scientists at Duke University, have found that anal toys, beads, dual vibrators, and external vibrators shed nanoplastic fragments when used. Plus, they contain phthalates, which disrupt endocrine systems. So much for safe sex.

Picking up the pieces.
In Ankara, Turkey, garbage collectors just opened a public library using books people threw away. In Taichung, Taiwan, an elderly couple who run a laundromat have collected the clothes customers leave behind and have started modelling them on Instagram (@WantShowAsYoung). There’s no such thing as trash, clearly!

Concerned for marketers.
Clothing brand Feat sent this promo email to its US customers:“Hi, it’s your neighbor right across the street with the silver car and little dog ...Anyway, just wanted to let you know everyone in the neighborhood can see when you walk around your house in your underwear all day”. Eww. Who thinks this is good advertising?

Breathing in sandalwood.
Netflix’s docuseries The Hunt for Veerappan, follows the life of the smuggler who evaded police for 36 years, killed more than 180 people, even kidnapped politicians for ransom, until he was killed in 2004. It’s a great recap for a generation that isn’t familiar with the headlines and still wants the facts.

Asking for an encore.
Musician Dhruv Visvanath played his smallest Delhi gig recently...inside a cab. On his way home one rainy night, the cabbie noticed his guitalele and asked him about it. Visvanath obliged by playing his song, Gimme Love, through the ride home. Check out the post on Visvanath’s Instagram @mrdhruvv.
