Republic Day 2023: Things you can do to make your pet feel special

This year January 26 is falling on a Thursday, and if one is able to take the Friday off, it could make for a long weekend. While there are multiple things that can be done with friends and family, including watching the parade together; if you have pets, a little planning can also lead to a great bonding experience with them. Here are some of the things you can do for your pets to make them feel special:
Cuddle together: No office rush means, you and your pet can spend time cuddling together in the morning, and even laze around during the day. Stay home and cuddle your pet. Make them a nice dog-friendly lunch or even play games with them. Spend time with them and do things that you believe they might enjoy.
A long walk in the park: This is perhaps one on of my favourite things to do. On an average my pets go for a 20-minute walk, twice a day; but if you have time and the weather permits, perhaps you can spend more time walking your canine. If you are in Delhi, you might use the opportunity to sit in the sun with your dog.
An outing together: If you are not keen for a long walk, or if your pet is not up to the task, maybe a picnic in the park could be encouraged. Pack your pet’s favourite treats, food and toys, and spend time exploring the greenery around you.
Watch a movie: How about watching a dog movie with your pet? There are numerous movies like Eight Below, All Dogs go to Heaven, Call of the Wild, A Dog’s Purpose, The Secret life of Pets etch that you can see on various OTT platforms, while being home with your dog.
Travel together: One of the things you can do is to find dog friendly-destinations near your city, and travel together for the weekend. Considering most pets do not get free spaces to run around and be themselves, this can be a fantastic opportunity to introduce your pooch to nature. However, please be certain that you never let your dog run free without proper fencing. Or if this is the first time your dog is travelling with you, and you are unsure about them, try on a double harness. There have been instances of lost dogs on highways, and you would not want a happy moment to turn into a worrisome one.
Whatever you decide to do, remember that your pet would be grateful and enjoy their time with you as long as you take the initiative to spend it with them. Our pets do not want expensive holidays or fancy clothing to make them happy, all they need is love, attention and affection to make them cheerful and satiated.
