BM Sandeep, party secretary and Konkan in-charge, is holding zone-wise meetings to review the Lok Sabha elections.

Meetings for Thane, Kalyan, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg and Raigad were held over the past three days, while meetings for Palghar and Bhiwandi will be held in the next few days.

According to party sources, local leaders, including district and tehsil presidents, expressed discontent over the lack of co-ordination within the party and the alliance.

“Better co-ordination would have upped our chances. The NCP leadership did not take us into confidence during the initial stages in the Lok Sabha polls. We expect this to be improved in the Assembly elections,” said a state unit leader who was privy to the developments.

Husnabanoo Khaliphe, Congress legislator from Ratnagiri, said they have brought to the notice of the leadership that NCP leaders from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency did not work for the alliance candidate. “It is a fact that we did not get any support from the NCP as they worked for the Narayan Rane-led Maharashtra Swabhimani Paksha. We hope that corrective measures will be taken by the party during Assembly polls,” she said.

Sandeep said “It is a routine process of taking feedback after any election to prepare for the next election. We have about 150 days left for the Assembly polls in Maharashtra. The review meeting held was to strengthen the organisation. The feedback we received from local leaders in various parts of the Konkan will help us in taking corrective measures, if needed.”

He, however, said there were no complaints against the NCP leadership. “There were no such specific complaints. Neither have we as a party leadership failed to provide support to the candidates and units at district level. This time we were better organised.”
