The Congress’ Jai Prakash Agarwal defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s BL Sharma that year.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari won the seat as a BJP candidate. Manoj Tiwari polled 596,125 votes against the Aam Aadmi Party’s Anand Kumar.
The AAP will field Dilip Pandey from the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
Voting will be held during the sixth of the seven-phase election on May 12 and results will be declared on May 23.
