But for one term for the Congress in 1998, the seat has been held by the Shiv Sena for all terms since 1989. Before that the seat was considered a Congress stronghold.

In 2014, Jadhav Sanjay (Bandu) Haribhau of the Shiv Sena defeated NCP’s Bhambale Vijay Manikrao by over one lakh vote.
