Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal asked voters to re-elect National Democratic Alliance government in the Lok Sabha elections due in April- May.
Raking up the internal and external security issues, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal asked voters to re-elect the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, here on Monday.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a strong leader. Time and again, he has proven that he will not tolerate terrorism and militancy. He can easily steer the nation clear of internal or external threats. We need a decisive and bold PM like him at this crucial time when Pakistan is repeatedly trying to foment trouble using the terror camps in its land. Only Modi can make our naughty neighbour (Pakistan) behave,” he added.
He said that All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi has a weak personality and has no standing to become a PM.
Sukhbir, SAD’s prospective candidate Surjit Singh Rakhra and district president Harpal Juneja met party workers in Patiala on Monday.
He urged people to “make chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh wake up from his deep slumber” by defeating Congress in the upcoming parliamentary polls, and force him to fulfil the poll promises he made.
Condemning Congress for “cheating” people in Punjab by not implementing its poll promises, Badal said, “Captain does not dare to step out of Chandigarh as he is sensing that people will question him about the poll promises he has so brazenly backtracked from,” he said.
Comparing Patiala (CM’s home bastion) with Bathinda constituency (home turf of the Badal family), in terms of development, Badal said that apart from infrastructure development, Bathinda was showered with a series of big projects including a petroleum refinery, a central university, AIIMS, and new airport during the SAD-BJP tenure.
“Patiala was in a state of neglect during the previous stint of Captain as CM, and the condition is same this time as well. No efforts are made to bring even one big project or industry to Patiala by the ‘Raja’ and his family,” he said.
He said that Captain has not deemed it fit to even visit the Royal City and thank the residents here for electing him as a legislator.
Surjit Singh Rakhra and Harpal Juneja also addressed the gathering. Meanwhile, Sukhbir had a one-on-one interaction with the party workers.
