Regarded as the greatest batsmen ever in modern-day cricket, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was born on April 24, 1973. Popularly known as the Little Master or Master Blaster, he is often referred to as the ‘God of Cricket’ by his followers. In 1994, Tendulkar received the Arjuna Award and in 1997 received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, which is India’s highest sporting honour. In 1999 and 2008, Tendulkar also received the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan awards. In 2011, Tendulkar was part of the Indian team which won the 2011 Cricket World Cup, and it was his sixth world cup appearance. On November 16, 2013, after his last match, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that they shall be awarding him with the Bharat Ratna.
