Bhojpuri actor held in Mumbai for sexually assaulting live-in partner

The woman, who is a singer, has also accused Pandey of borrowing lakhs of rupees from her and not returning the amount.

The Charkop police have arrested a 27-year-old Bhojpuri actor on allegations of rape following the complaint of his former live-in partner. The accused actor, identified as Manoj Pandey, was placed under arrest on Friday.

According to the Charkop police, Pandey and the woman, both 27, were in a relationship. and had been living together in Charkop, Kandivli (West) since 2012. The accused has acted in four movies, one of which was a Hindi movie.

“The woman approached us with the complaint on September 15, based on which we registered a case. We are investigating the case,” said Pramod Dhavare, senior inspector at Charkop police station.

The woman, in her complaint, alleged that the actor sexually assaulted her several times when they were in the relationship. Pandey also promised to marry her, said officials.

The woman, who is a singer, has also accused Pandey of borrowing lakhs of rupees from her and not returning the amount.

The Charkop police had registered the case of rape and cheating under sections of Indian Penal Code against the actor on September 15, however Pandey was placed under arrest only on Friday.

When asked about the late arrest, Dhavare said they were probing the case. The actor will be produced before a metropolitan court on Friday for a police custody.
