Delighted over HC verdict on Haji Ali, muslim women to fight ‘triple talak’ next

The petitioners said that it was victory for Muslim women.

Delighted with the victory in their fight to secure equal entry rights to the Haji Ali shrine for Muslim women, groups that supported the campaign said that their next fight will to get triple talaq banned.

“The agenda for reform in the community is being set by Muslim women who have strong ideological understanding,” said Feroze Mithiborwala of Haji Ali Sab Ke Liye Forum, a group formed to support the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA), the petitioners in the case.

The petitioners said that it was victory for Muslim women. “IT has been a really long fight. The judge while giving the verdict gave six weeks time before women can enter the dargah,” said Khatoon Shaikh, convenor of Maharashtra unit of BMMA.
