Mumbai man kills brother after he throws water on his face
A 48-year-old man allegedly killed his brother in Worli on Wednesday after the latter threw water on his face, which angered him.
The accused, Rajesh Gupta, hit the victim, Dinesh Gupta, 41, a milk vendor, on his neck with a sharp utensil that caused a severe injury, leading to his death. The accused has been arrested, said Y Pawar, senior inspector, Worli police station.
Gupta used to live with his wife and two kids in Madraswadi area in Worli. Rajesh, a hawker, and his family live nearby in another house.
On Wednesday, Dinesh was abusing his brother Rajesh over some petty issue when Rajesh was having dinner. As Rajesh was not paying heed, Dinesh got irritated and threw water on Rajesh’s face. This angered Rajesh who grabbed a sharp utensil and hit him on his neck, the police said.
Dinesh was taken to hospital and died there. Police was informed and Rajesh was taken into custody. “Since Dinesh was into milk business, many of his customers and clients would frequent Rajesh’s home from where Dinesh ran his business. Rajesh had opposed it and would get irritated when Dinesh’s customers would come home. They had fights in the past as well,” said assistant inspector Baliram Sutar of Worli police station.
The weapon was recovered from the house. Rajesh has been booked under sections 302 (murder) of IPC. His wife Poonam is the prime eye-witness in the case, the police said.
