The police said Shaikh was stopped by escorting police officers. The two had clashed before in jail, police said. An officer from Colaba police station said, “The accused purposely called the victim to an area, which wasn’t under CCTV surveillance. He tried to mislead the police by claiming that Jammadar had a knife, which he snatched and attacked in defence.” The accused was then taken to Colaba police station where a case was registered under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.
