Northern end of CST foot over bridge to finally be revamped

The plan includes changing the tiles of the bridge and a new paint.

The Mumbai Heritage committee on Tuesday gave in-principle nod to refurbish the foot over bridge (FOB) at the northern end of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST).

The presentation was made by an A-ward civic official before the heritage panel to revamp the bridge. The plan includes changing the tiles of the bridge and a new paint. While the heritage panel has given a nod to the tiling, it is yet to decide on the shade.

The committee has asked the civic official to work on a patch for further approval. Once the approval is in place, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will require a minimum of 15 days to carry out the work. The civic body will soon write to the railways ministry for permission to undertake the work next week.

The revamp is a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, under which 100 heritage and spiritual sites were selected. The campaign has started from 10 locations, of which CST is a part of the 10 iconic locations.
