‘Rahul bought cocaine after Pratyusha’s death’

Police say actor’s boyfriend fled from hospital with her phone, called fashion designer to supply him with drugs

While Pratyusha Banerjee’s body was at the hospital, her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh fled with her mobile and called fashion designer Pallavi Singh to supply him with drugs, said the police who recorded Pallavi’s statement.

Pallavi’s statement is mentioned in the charge sheet submitted before the court in the suicide abetment case.

“Rahul called me from a different number late that night and said he wanted drugs. He said it was not his number, but Banerjee’s. I arranged for the drugs and sent them through an acquaintance,” she said.

“After receiving the cocaine, Rahul called me, saying I should not call this number again,” Pallavi said.

Rahul had met Pallavi a few weeks earlier, through a model who gave his number to the fashion designer and told her that he needed to be supplied with drugs.

On March 31, a day before Banerjee killed herself, Singh called Pallavi and ordered 1 gram of MD (meow meow) at 10.21 pm.

The police have attached the call records to the charge sheet to establish the day’s sequence of events.

“I sent him the MD through a house-help. Rahul paid me Rs 2,000. When my help returned, he said Singh was with another woman,” she added.

Police investigations revealed that on March 31, co-stars and friends attended a party at the couple’s apartment. The party continued till the morning of the following day.

Rahul told Banerjee he was going to Mount Mary Church in the morning and asked her to accompany him. However, she said no and he left alone.

After coming back home on April 1, Rahul left to fetch lunch and then left the apartment again in the afternoon to attend a meeting.

When he returned, he found Banerjee hanging from the ceiling.
