Rail fracture between Goregaon and Malad delays peak hour trains by 15 mins
WR diverted the traffic from affected track, delaying suburban services by 10 to 15 minutes
Suburban services on the Western Railway were disrupted for more than an hour owing to a rail fracture between Goregaon and Malad stations at 9 am.
The rail fracture occurred during peak hours on the north-bound slow track. WR then diverted the traffic from affected track, delaying suburban services by 10 to 15 minutes. This also resulted in overcrowding at stations, inconveniencing commuters.
Gajanan Mahatpurkar, WR spokesperson said trains were diverted onto the fast track and efforts to restore traffic were ongoing. “Traffic on the remaining three corridors is normal,” he said.
More than 35 lakh commuters travel on the WR between Churchgate and Dahanu stations daily.
