Smoke alert forces Male-bound Emirates flight to make emergency stop at Mumbai
A Dubai to Male Emirates flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai on Tuesday following a smoke alert on board the craft.
A Male-bound Emirates flight carrying more than 300 passengers made an emergency stopover at Mumbai on Tuesday following an on-board smoke alert.

Airport sources said that flight crew sought permission from the Mumbai air traffic control (ATC) to land on priority as per protocol. The flight, which took off from Dubai, landed safely on the main airstrip at 1:59 pm. A Mumbai Airport International Limited (MIAL) spokesperson confirmed the incident.
“Full emergency declared at 13:59 hours for flight EK 652 Dubai to Male diverted to Mumbai. The Boeing 7 7 7-3 0 0 aircraft observed smoke on board,” said the spokesperson.
Full emergency is an alert level when fire tenders, ambulances and airfield safety vehicles are parked close to the tarmac for immediate help in case of injuries. No passengers were hurt.
