Student sentenced to life in prison for murdering father

District Judge N R Pradhan of the Vasai Court sentenced a 22-year-old engineering student, Mayank Kumrawat, to life Imprisonment for killing his father. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 or an additional six months jail term.
Ujwala Moholkar, Additional Public Prosecutor,Vasai said Mayank got enraged when he saw his father, Mukesh, 49, abusing his mother, which was a regular feature in the household according to sources. On 12 April, 2014, a fight broke out between his parents, so Mayank went out of his house and purchased a sickle. He stabbed his father 23 times with it.

Even after the killing, he showed no remorse and said “I had given justice to my mother by killing my father,” said Moholkar.
Mukesh,who worked as an engineer in a company would fight with his wife Vinita almost everyday,which irritated Mayank, as Mukesh would also beat up Vinita,said Moholkar.
The mother was the sole witness in the killing and she had complained to the Manickpur police and since the incident, had cut off all ties with her son. She did not visit him even once at the Thane Central Jail,where he was lodged since April 2014.
