Suspicious bag triggers bomb scare near Thane railway station
Bomb and dog squads rush to the spot, find only clothes in bag accidentally left behind by a family
A misplaced bag near Thane railway station triggered a bomb scare on Wednesday morning. The bomb and dog squads were rushed to the spot, but nothing except clothes were found in the bag, police officials said.

The bag was spotted by a passerby at B cabin area, which is located 100 metres from Thane station. “After we got the call, we alerted the dog and bomb squad officers. We also got the shops near the site to down the shutters so as to reduce crowds and onlookers,” said Prakash Patil, police inspector from Naupada police station.
The police also cordoned off the road and ordered people away from the spot. “Then, we and the squads checked the bag, but it had only clothes in it,” Patil added.
The police found ID cards in the bag. “The bag belongs to a family who had came to Thane for some work and accidentally left it behind. We have called them and they will come to the police station soon to collect it,” he said.
