You can get Mumbai weather updates all year round from BMC, starting June 1
Till now, updates were available only during the monsoon months.
Starting June 1, you can get weather updates on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) disaster management website all year round.
So far, the website (dm.mcgm.gov.in) has been providing weather-related information such as the temperature, tide forecast, precipitation and humidity only during the monsoon months between June and September. However, the BMC now plans to make this information available throughout the year, said additional municipal commissioner Idzes Kundan.
“Weather parameters, mainly temperature, will be put up from all automatic weather stations (AWS) installed in the city. Many people look for temperature updates during the summer too,” said Mahesh Narvekar, chief officer, disaster management.
Several years ago, the BMC had launched a monsoon website (mumbaimonsoon.in), where it would update rainfall data every 15 minutes, but this website had never become popular and is defunct now.
Now, the disaster management website will host all the weather information and updates that Mumbaiites may be looking for to plan their daily activities and for alerts, said an official, who did not wish to be named.
As part of its monsoon preparedness plan, the BMC is also upgrading its disaster management mobile application in order to establish a smooth interface for its officials and users through real-time updates.
