MUMBAI: A special team, formed to investigate the Rs 75 lakh dacoity that took place at the office of a chartered accountant in south Mumbai on October 4, arrested six people on Monday.

The plan was hatched by 23-year-old Shravankumar Purohit, who was not connected with the office of complainant Punit Singhvi. “Singhvi’s employee, who was Purohit’s friend, used to complain regularly about a meagre salary despite his boss making money. So Purohit decided to act on it,” said Manojkumar Sharma, deputy commissioner of police, zonaI.

Officials said Purohit hatched the plan to make quick money and told Modaksingh Rajput, 21, who roped in other men -- Shravan Rawal, 24, Deepram Mali, 23, Kishor Gehalot, 20, Kailash Vaishnav, 26. In all, 11 people were roped in and were promised money. The accused who fled to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Pune. Purohit’s arrest led the police to the others. They have recovered Rs11.50 lakh from them.
