MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to send another notice to Bhau Daji Lad Museum for violations, after it found the previous reply unsatisfactory.

The museum authority is under fire after a probe conducted by civic body has revealed serious violations of the agreement signed between the BMC and museum management.

The alleged violations include no certifications of artefacts, no records of day-today accounts, non-availability of inventory, missing audit reports and recruitment of staff without following due process.

Apparently, corporators from all parties have also demanded action against management. Following the controversy, the BMC had sent notice to museum trustees in April and asked for clarification over the issues pointed out in probe.

On April 20, director of the museum Tasneem Mehta had replied to civic body’s notice dismissing all the allegations and stated that trust had followed all the norms. However, pointing out loopholes in trust’s reply civic body has prepared a fresh notice containing seven points.

A senior civic official said, “The notice is ready and most likely to be sent to trust in next week. Few things are yet to be discussed with top officials.” Tasneem Mehta has rubbished all the questions raised by civic body and said, “We have provided every single detail which was requested by civic body. Even after the controversy not a single person from BMC has done physical investigations of the museum.”
