Navghar police said that a few months ago, Ravindra Gosalkar alias Raju, under the pretext of being an agent, had offered one Sandeep Patil a housing loan.

“Gosalkar had collected Rs73,000 from Patil. When Patil did not get the promised loan, he asked Gosalkar to return his money,” said senior inspector Shrimant Ghule.

Gosalkar returned Rs45,000 to Patil. Since he could not repay the remaining Rs28,000, he allegedly stole a Bajaj Pulsar bike parked near Chintamani Garden in Mulund (East) and handed it over to Patil, said police.

Police said the incident came to light on December 11, when a patrolling team from the Navghar police stopped Patil at a checkpost and asked him for the bike’s registration papers.

Patil did not have the papers and told the police that Gosalkar had given him the bike.

The police then questioned Gosalkar. “He admitted that he has stolen the bike in September,” said an officer from the Navghar police, requesting anonymity.
