The city engineer department asked for permission to install a 5x5 feet lift behind the bungalow, which is a ground

plus one heritage grade-III structure.

The bungalow is spread on an area of 2,000-3,000 sq feet.

Even though the current Municipal Commissioner, Swadheen Kshatriya doesn’t require the lift, the administration wants the permission, if required in the future.

“A wall will need to be constructed to support the lift. The whole thing will cost Rs 10-12 lakh,” said L.S. Vhatkar, city engineer.

The Shankara Mutt, a heritage temple at Matunga, has sent a similar proposal.

A ground plus one structure, the priest of the temple wants to install a lift in the premise.

All these two proposals will be tabled before the heritage committee for approval.
