"Altogether 144 cases of colour poisoning came to the hospital and over 50 people who have been affected the most, have been admitted," a hospital source said.

The incident occurred in Shastrinagar area of Dharavi this afternoon when Holi celebrations were in full swing.

Several people developed allergic reaction to the colours and were rushed to the Lokmanya Tilak municipal general hospital at Sion.

Some cases were serious on admission but are now stable after treatment, he added.

Those hospitalised include children aged 9-10 years.
