A 57-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of her six-storey building in Ghatkopar on Wednesday afternoon.
A 57-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of her six-storey building in Ghatkopar on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased, Deepika Navinchandra Rupani, a homemaker, was suffering from depression and had been receiving treatment for the same for the past 10 years, said the Pant Nagar police.
According to the police, Rupani jumped off the terrace of Vasishta Co-Op Society, Ghatkopar (East). She lived on the first floor of the building.
Rupani is survived by a husband, and a son and daughter.
Around 2:30pm on Thursday, she had lunch with her husband, Navinchandra, 60, who ran a garment business before he retired last year. After lunch, he went for a nap, said the police.
Rupani went to the building compound and took the terrace keys from the watchman. Around 3pm, the watchman heard a loud thud and found Rupani’s body in a pool of blood.
The watchman informed Navinchandra. “Because of her medical condition, the family did not allow her to leave the house alone,” said Vijay Khaire, inspector, Pant Nagar police station.
Rupani’s daughter, who works at a shopping centre in Tilak Nagar, was due to get married shortly. Her son, a chemical engineer, resides in the US,
The Pant Nagar police have registered an accidental death report.
