The poster depicts the 17th century Muslim general Afzal Khan being slain by Shivaji. The poster was put up by the Hindu Jagruti Sarvajanik Shri Ganesh Mandal and was removed by the Naupada police: who said a nearby area, Rabodi, could react negatively to it. The Mandal had challenged the removal of the poster.

Public prosecutor P A Pol contended there was a history of clashes in the area, and risks could not be taken pertaining to matters of communal harmony.

The case will be heard next on Tuesday, by which time the CP has to file a report by Tuesday on the chances of a law and order problem.
