High court to get new chief justice

Justice Anil Dave will be the next Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Justice Anil Dave will be the next Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Dave, currently the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, is likely to take charge on February 15.

The post was lying vacant after previous Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar was elevated to the Supreme Court in December 2009.

Justice J.N. Patel, the senior-most judge of the high court, has assumed charge as acting chief justice.

Justice Dave (59) is also a qualified chartered accountant.

Justice Dave, who enrolled as an advocate in July 1976, was solicitor to the Gujarat government and also acted as an additional government pleader in Gujarat high court between April 1986 and August 1994.

Dave was appointed as judge of the Gujarat High Court in September 1995. He was appointed as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in January 2008.
