Impossible to get roof over one’s head in city: HC

Getting a roof over one’s head in the country, especially in Mumbai, is near impossible, the Bombay high court said on Monday. Mohan K Korappath reports.

Getting a roof over one’s head in the country, especially in Mumbai, is near impossible, the Bombay high court said on Monday. The court was hearing petitions filed by wives of police officials seeking ownership and tenancy rights over their service quarters.

The division bench of justice PB Majmudar and justice RM Sawant asked the government to consider it on humanitarian grounds but said the policemen cannot stay for free.

The government counsel said there was a shortage of quarters for newly recruited police constables.
