Kasare claimed that owing to the resident doctors’ strike, Sion hospital staff refused to admit his wife.
His wife was suffering from severe abdominal pain since Thursday night.
“When we took her to Sion hospital on Friday morning, the hospital staff refused to admit her saying that all the doctors were on strike. They asked me to take her to a private hospital,” said Kasare, who earns Rs150 as a daily wage-worker.
“I am in severe pain. Me and my husband have been making rounds of the hospital since morning, but no one is listening to us,” said Kasare’s wife Vaishali.
With no option left, Kasare took Vishali to a private hospital in the evening.
“I am not in a position to afford get her treated in a private hospital, but my wife needs treatment urgently.”
“Now I have sold her mangalsutra. I don’t know how I am going to afford her further treatment,” said Kasare.
