Medical reports confirmed that the victim had been sexually harassed. “The victim was tortured and sexually exploited for a year before she escaped from the accused’s residence. Passers-by found her crying on the road along Wagale Estate,” said Meera Bansode, police inspector, Wagale estate police station.

“Ghosh said that her husband Wachant, who resides in Kolkata, brought the victim to her,” added Bansode.

The police however suspect that Ghosh lured the victim to Mumbai by promising her a job.
