A 57-year-old teacher of a technical institute allegedly committed suicide on Friday evening by shooting himself on his right temple with a country-made pistol on the institute premises in Ghatkopar (East).
Vijay Bore, a teacher in Shivaji Technical High School, has left a two-page suicide note, but police are tight lipped about its content. Sources said preliminary probe indicated that he took the extreme step over personal issues. He was worked with the school for the past several years.
According to the Pantnagar police, the incident came to light around 7pm, when a peon was about to shut the technical workshop. He found Bore lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed the locals, who called the police.
Bore was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The police recorded the peon’s statement, in which he stated he had not heard a gunshot.
“We have found a suicide note from the spot where he has written about some personal issues. Prima facie, it appears that he was depressed,” said Vinaykumar Rathod, deputy commissioner of police, zone 7.
Bore was a resident of Dombivli and is survived by his wife and brother. “We have informed his brother and the investigation is on. We will scrutinise the suicide note and make further inquiries,” said Shankar Dhanawade, senior inspector of police, Pantnagar police station.
Investigators are trying to find out from where Bore got the pistol, which was found at the scene of the incident.
