Sheth's son Akash admitted that the family business was not doing too well, but said that this could not have driven Sheth to suicide.

Vinod Bhagat, one of Sheth's creditors, said: "Sheth was a man of his word. Once he gave a commitment regarding money, he fulfilled it."

However, one of the things Sheth had mentioned in his suicide note was that he was committing suicide as he had failed to fulfill his commitments.

The Dadar police are now trying to find out if the 'failed commitment,' had something to do with returning money.

"Sheth's business interests had taken a hit since 2010, when they had to shut their luxury bus section owing to losses," said Bhagat.

"Later, the Kingfisher Airlines strike also affected their business interest, as Sheth's company had a tie-up with them," he added.

The police said that Sheth had taken loans from several persons and was finding it difficult to pay them back.

"Sheth was having a tough time arranging money that could help him settle his loans," said an officer from the Dadar police, who did not wish to be named.
