Khan had allegedly run over people sleeping outside a Bandra store killing one and injuring four.
“The lady [the accused] should be severely punished for the crime she has committed,” said Shinde’s 40-year-old wife, Devyani. “The police should not take her case lightly.”
Relatives said they learnt about the accident two hours after it occurred. “We were told that Dinanath has been admitted to the hospital with minor injuries. It’s only after reaching the hospital that we realised the gravity of the situation,” said Subhash Shinde, a relative.
Shinde was posted at Naigaon Local Arms Division before being promoted as police sub-inspector of Pydhonie police station. He has been at the traffic department’s Kalbadevi division for a few months.
Dinanath, who was the only only earning member of his family, is survived by his wife and two teenaged children.
