At least 15 passengers waiting for the train, fell in a drain and suffered injuries outside Vasai railway station, when a drain slab caved in on Tuesday morning.
Though railway authorities could not be reached for comment, government railway police control room confirmed the incident that occurred around 10am. But it did not have any details about the injuries to the commuters.
Commuter groups, however, claimed that the incident occurred when passengers were waiting for the train.
A passenger activist said, as WR services were badly hit because of the derailment at Lower Parel, about 50 passengers were waiting on the drain culvert for arrival of the train outside Vasai station’s platform number one.
The concrete slab on the drain caved in and many fell into it. Co-passengers rushed for help and pulled them out. Around 15 passengers suffered injuries in the incident.
