The police are investigating whether Sheth was in financial trouble. Sheth was on his way to his Girgaum residence from Bandra when he asked his driver to stop the car near the Worli end of the sea link, said Dhananjay Kulkarni, deputy commissioner of police. “He said he wanted to make a few phone calls, asked the driver to wait ahead and said he would foot it to the car.”

The driver waited for 20 minutes and called Sheth’s son when he couldn’t contact Sheth. Around 4pm, even as the Worli police searched for him, Sheth’s body washed ashore below the sea link.
