In her complaint, Sheetal asked the court to grant her protection from Atulya’s family and three domestic helps, who allegedly abused her.

Sheetal claimed that the matriarch of the Mafatlal family, Madhuri, and her son Ajay have been abusing her. She alleged that in June , Ajay had burnt her hand with a cigarette. “On July 5, Madhuri and Ajay barged into my room with a cane and beat me,” she said in the complaint.

She claimed that the family and three domestic helps had not provided her food and cut off cooking gas service in her part of the house. “Atulya has stopped paying Sheetal’s domestic helps and cut her off financially,” said Zulfi Memon, Sheetal’s advocate who confirmed that the matter would be heard on September 9.

Sheetal filed her complaint under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and has said she “fears for her safety in the Mafatlal residence.”

When approached for a comment, Ajay and Marushka said that they could not say anything about Sheetal’s complaint at the moment. “We will respond once the matter is heard before the court,” said Ajay.
