Surat BJP MLA Raja Patel dies of dengue at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital

Raja Patel, 54, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Surat, passed away on Wednesday at Hinduja Hospital, Mahim, on Wednesday.
Patel had been suffering from dengue for the past week and was flown to Mumbai on Monday.
The BJP MLA had been undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Surat, but his health did not improve.
His family decided to shift him to Mumbai when his condition continued to deteriorate.
“He had multiple organ failure at the time of admission. Despite the best possible treatment given at the hospital, his organ dysfunction did not reverse. He succumbed to dengue with multi-organ dysfunction,” said Dr Sanjay Agarwala, director, professional services, PD Hinduja Hospital.
According to Patel’s family, he had gone to Dubai last Thursday, but returned early after he developed high fever. He had high blood pressure and diabetes.
