The Western Express Highway from Santacruz bridge till Mahananda dairy junction was clogged for over three hours after a truck’s tyre burst on Vakola flyover.

“We got a call at 9 am that a truck’s tyre punctured at the flyover bridge. The truck was moved within 30 minutes but the traffic was blocked for a long time,” said police sub-inspector S. Maykar, from the Vakola traffic police chowky.

Due to the breakdown of a trailer on the Eastern Express Highway, traffic remained clogged for two hours at the Vikhroli flyover. There was also a traffic jam on P D’Mello road at CST due to the work at the OCS junction.

“There were minor jams in south and east Mumbai that were cleared within half hour,” said a traffic police officer.

“Even if one vehicle breaks down on the Western Express Highway, especially at the Vakola flyover, traffic is stuck for hours,” said Ritu Chabriya, who works at Lower Parel.
