Police officials said the incident was brought to their notice through a fax sent by one of the hotels. The officials said the threat messages were vague and did not specify a time or date, but mentioned the hotels would be blown up. The sender’s identity is unknown.

“After we were informed about the threat messages, we conducted thorough searches at the two hotels in the city, and have asked them to step up security inside their premises,” said a police officer, requesting anonymity.

An official case has not been registered yet, but the cyber cell of the crime branch is trying to find out the source of the message.
