In an effort to promote world peace, music composer Aadesh Shrivastava will release his new album, Sounds of Peace, on the third anniversary of 26/11 attacks today. The project boasts of songs by Akon, Wyclef Jean, classical singer Ustaad Rashid Khan, violinist Kala Ramnath, Roop Kumar Rathod, Amitabh Bachchan, lyricist Sameer and others.
Aadesh recounts that on the fateful night of 2008, he found out that four of his NRI friends were trapped at The Oberoi; two of whom did not survive eventually. “The attacks left a deep personal impact. This album is for all those who lost their lives not just in 26/11 but also during 9/11 and other attacks that happened worldwide,” says Aadesh.
He adds that once he started on the album, he realised that it needed a global perspective, and hence got others on board. “This is the first time that an Indian musician has collaborated with Philharmonic Symphony of London. They have been fetaured in a composition in which Amitabh, Rashid and Aadesh have sung together.”
Aadesh’s younger son Anivesh (12) has sung one of the songs in the album. His elder son Avitesh (15) made his debut with Akon last year, has done a rap number in another song. Aadesh reveals Sounds of Peace is not a one off album. He says, “I plan to release volumes of this album, with one collaborative project every year.” The singer informs that 25 per cent of the proceeds of sales will be donated to the Maharashtra Police Fund.
