It’s been more than two months since 3 Idiots released, but the accolades haven’t stopped coming singer Suraj Jagan’s way. His song, Give Me Some Sunshine, has become one of the first Hindi film songs to have crossed half-a-million views on YouTube.

Jagan, a veteran rocker who has fronted some of the best-known Mumbai-based bands such as Chakraview, Krysys, AFS, and Dream Out loud, also made a mark with the Hutch jingle, You and I.

“The jingle ran for three years but nobody knew I sung it,” he says. When Bollywood came calling with Hum naujawan hain (Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi), he became one of the first rockers to venture into playback singing. But it was the title song of Johnny Gaddar, almost 10 years later, that Jagan believes was a “major step” that lead to mass recognition.

Jagan, who’s also acted in Jaya, actress Lilette Dubey’s theatrical adaptation of the Mahabharata, has recently sung for Karthik Calling Karthik, My Name Is Khan, Patiala House and I Hate Luv Storys.
