Man accused of raping Noida woman, filming act held
The accused, Anuj Kumar, had allegedly raped the woman in October 2014. According to the complainant, one of Kumar’s accomplices clicked her pictures and filmed the rape after a party.
A 27-year-old man who allegedly raped a woman at Dankaur in Greater Noida and filmed the act three years ago, was arrested from Salempur village in Bulandshahr on Saturday.
The accused, Anuj Kumar, had allegedly raped the woman in October 2014. According to the complainant, one of Kumar’s accomplices clicked her pictures and filmed the rape after a party.
Later, one more person known to Kumar raped her, the complainant alleged.
She filed the complaint on July 19, 2017, as she was fed up with Kumar’s alleged blackmailing for money.
Police said the woman’s father, a businessman in Dankaur, had organised a party on the inauguration of his banquet hall.
The function was attended by relatives, including Kumar, who happens to be a cousin of the woman’s father.
On that night as people started partying, Kumar started talking to the woman. After some time, he offered a soft drink laced with sedatives to the 23-year-old woman, police said. The woman started feeling drowsy and was taken to a room adjacent to the hall.
Kumar allegedly raped her in the hall. The whole incident was filmed by Kumar’s friend who is yet to be arrested.
Investigation officer Jitender Singh said, “The woman realised next morning that she has been raped. She went to Kumar who showed her the photos and video. The woman was shocked to see herself filmed. He threatened to make the pictures and video public if she reported the matter to her family.”
The woman alleged that Kumar continued to blackmail her for money. When she got angry with the rising demands for money, she reported the matter to her father and a case was registered.
Station House Officer of Dankaur, Farmood Ali Pundir, said, “The accused knew the woman’s father is financially strong. The woman fearing the pictures and video would be leaked, managed to take money from her parents on one pretext or the other. Kumar’s demand started from Rs 10,000 and it reached Rs 1 lakh.”
The woman told police that Kumar would send someone from his village to take money from her. For the last two years, the accused had extorted more than Rs 1 lakh from her, said police.
“In the complaint she has said that last year, Kumar had sent his relative to collect money from her. The man took the money from her and later raped her. All the three men were named in the first information report and two are yet to be arrested,” Pundir added.
